Ker & Downey Safaris Kenya and Outback Encounter Australia

July 2003

Over the past year, Ker & Downey Safaris has forged links with Australia’s premier Safari operator, Outback Encounter. This new partnership has been inspired by my own Australian heritage, and will no doubt prove to be fruitful for ties between these two countries close to my heart.

For anyone who has ever marveled at the beauty of Africa’s wildlife and scenery, Australia will hold similar splendour. From historic homesteads on half-million acre properties in the outback, to Reef resorts in topical north Queensland, Australia boasts a diverse geography and a wide variety of activities to revel in.

Ker & Downey Safaris has chosen Outback Encounter to partner with because it is one of the rare Australian tour operators that maintains similar standards of service in guiding, accommodation, exclusivity, and management. We can be sure that we are offering our discerning guests the same quality of experience they have shared with us for over fifty years in the African bush. To be able to offer such a rich introduction to another continent steeped in legend for its people and its wilderness is indeed a pleasure for us here in Kenya. Outback Encounter’s managing director, Drew Kluska, has close ties to Kenya. He spent two years working on Lewa Downs Conservancy, which many of my guests visit. Drew has pioneered the same class of holiday that he experienced during his years in Kenya, and has come up with a product second to none for an Aussie Safari!

One of Outback Encounter’s top Guides is Tana Jane (T.J.) McCaldin. TJ grew up in Kenya and is in fact related to our very own Syd Downey, certainly as strong a Ker & Downey connection as we could hope for anywhere in the world! She has now lived in tropical Queensland for the past 15 years.

Be sure to let me know if you would like to learn more about going On Safari Down Under. And if you are interested in making an inquiry, just have a look at the website www.OutbackEncounter.com , and be sure to let Drew or his staff know that you have been referred by their Kenya partner, Ker & Downey Safaris.
