Traditional Safaris from Ker & Downey
Donald Ker and Syd Downey founded the Original
Ker & Downey Safaris Kenya Ltd. in 1946, making it the oldest safari
outfitter in Africa.
It was among the legendary greats - like Finch
Hatton, von Blixen, Hunter, Black and Anderson - that Donald Ker and
Syd Downey had their grounding.
They picked up codes of chivalry, courtesy, and professionalism and
learned how to create luxury in the bush. They learned too, that while
wildlife,
great scenery and fine climate were all factors which drew clients
to a safari, one vital element was needed to complete the magic - the
professional
guide who conducted it.
Being in a mobile, luxury camp in which the quality
of personal attention is unsurpassed allows each safari to be both
organized and spontaneous.
To visit remote areas, to move on or stay put as mood dictates,
to be free of timetables; a Ker & Downey safari is a customized African
adventure.
Ker & Downey today is an active partnership of 15 guides taking great
pride in the operation of this unique, luxury safari business. The standard
of service is of the best quality and highly personalized – each
safari is customised by your guide to suit your desires.
