Howard Saunders: Ker & Downey Safaris

Conservation in East Africa

One cannot live in Africa, and marvel at her wonders without a desire to help conserve them. Howard has become integrally involved in many efforts to preserve the natural treasures of the continent, both working with internationally recognised bodies, as well as through his own company’s commitment to ecotourism.

Ker & Downey Safaris has a very long history of commitment to conservation initiatives. They have taken an unprecedented leading role in Kenya conservation recently involving their partnership with the Samburu community and the Namunyak Wilderness Conservancy in Kenya’s north. Such long-term commitment to many conservation and research programmes in Kenya has placed Ker & Downey in their own league in terms of its commitment to preserving for the future.

Over the years Ker & Downey Safaris has collaborated with renowned organisations such as the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF), and the African Elephant Research Project (AERP) to name but a few. Each person who joins us on Safari will witness the benefits of being part of a company that not only knows the African bush, but moreover one that is working to preserve those as a legacy for our children and grandchildren.

Howard has established the enticing concept of 'Science Safaris‘, which focus on unique interactions and insights into East African research and conservation.
